Innovative whirling unit from heimatec expands machining capabilities

With heimatec.Whirling, heimatec GmbH is now presenting its proven whirling unit as a solution for short lathes. Already in successful use for several months for long lathes , this expansion opens up new perspectives for companies with short lathes that require precise and efficient thread production.

The new whirling unit is particularly suitable for the production of screws, conveyor and worm threads, and other components with external threads. This gives companies the opportunity to expand their production capacities and sustainably increase the productivity of existing machines.

The heimatec whirling unit has already been successfully tested on a Nakamura WT-100 in a customer field trial.. The customer was impressed by the excellent results and the ease of use of the solution. For particularly long workpieces, heimatec recommends using a centering point or other support devices, depending on the geometry. A particular highlight is the newly developed quick-change system: cutting insert carriers and cutting inserts can be replaced quickly and easily from the rear of the unit. The cutting insert carriers are available in different cutting diameters and lengths, as well as for different indexable cutting plate configurations. The whirling unit is supplied without cutting insert carriers as standard; these can be manufactured and purchased individually from your preferred cutting insert manufacturer in accordance with heimatec specifications.

With heimatec.Whirling, thread production is not only more precise, but also more efficient and versatile. Gradient angles of up to 25° and cutting diameters of up to 12 mm can be achieved without any problems. It is particularly noteworthy that the thread is produced in a single passageway , which significantly increases efficiency compared to conventional methods.
